Monday, July 10th
5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Networking with local agencies will begin at 5:30 PM and presentations will begin at 6:00 PM.
The Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why, is a teen drama in which one of the main characters commits suicide and leaves audio tapes for everyone she felt contributed to her demise. This raises concerns about the potential risks posed by the graphically depicted topics of suicide, bullying, rape, & drunk driving. Because of this, we are offering a forum where local counselor, Melissa Bowen, MS, LPC will speak to parents about the content, and how to open up a meaningful dialogue about the series. Following this presentation, Tiffany Capps, MS, LPC with the Jacob Crouch Foundation will provide a FREE training to help people recognize suicide warning signs and know how to react in the event of a suicide crisis.
This event is FREE and open to all parents and teens. Counselors will be onsite to answer questions.
